Why God is Pro-choice

I serve a God who is vehemently pro-choice.

Just writing those words makes my heart cringe.
It doesn't seem right, but I think it's true.

God is pro-choice, but not in the sense you think I mean.
God may be the ultimate pro-choice supporter.
But don't think about abortion in this context.

Think larger.

What was the first gift God gave to Adam and Eve?
Aside from life itself?
Here's a scriptural reference to help you out.

"And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden...(Gen. 2:16)

God gave variety...decisions...choice...what we call free will.

Why? I haven't got a clue. There have been so many debates and church schisms because of free will that we'll never get a clear answer while we're still alive.

But it's ours to do with what we will.
To obey or to sin.
To run to Him or to hide.
To live or to abort.

There's a second part to that verse I quoted.

"...but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it surely you will die."

So we ate, and we died.
We eat, and we die.
We will eat, and we will die.

Why were we even given the choice in the first place?
It's like telling a child not to throw the baseball at the house because he could break a window.
That just makes the kid try to aim better.

Still, we were given that choice...the freedom to decide.
What's love without freedom?
If God would have created us all to love Him, would it be real love?

On the issue of abortion, who's got the choice there?
We hear about the rights of "consenting adults."
A person in embryonic form can't very well "consent" to anything.

But God actually gave us the choice whether or not to kill our very children.
Isn't that a horribly confusing thought?

Is it even more dumbfounding to think that God had to kill His own son in order to put everything right?

Just remember.
God gave us life first, choice second.
